The Los Santos Summer Special adds custom vans, muscle cars, and more.
For car people, summer is the perfect time to take a road trip, attend a track day or two, hit the trails with your off-road buddies, or just go for a drive on your favorite local road. But sadly, like the rest of us stuck at home, you probably didn't get to do many of those things this year. We're as bummed about it as you are, and while there is no replacement for real-world vehicular adventure, you can at least get some driving thrills virtually—and while you're at it, why not rob a bank or steal some weapons off an aircraft carrier? That kind of in-game variety is pretty much exclusive to Grand Theft Auto Online, and the folks at Rockstar Games have just released a major update to GTA to help make these last days of summer a little more bearable.
In addition to new missions, new open-wheel racing features, and a host of other updates, the Los Santos Summer Special for GTA Online introduces 15 new vehicles, including both all-new designs and variants of existing cars. Here's a look at all of them.
Albany Manana Custom
In stock form, the Albany Manana has a classic 1970s look, but the new custom version takes the car in a completely different direction. The wire wheels wrapped in whitewall tires, rear fender skirts, and lowrider-esque pinstripes turn the Manana into an old-school boulevard cruiser. Plus, there's a massive blower sticking out of the hood—because why not?
Maibatsu Penumbra FF
In Grand Theft Auto, you're always on the lookout for rare supercars and exotics, but sometimes you see a car that sparks a sense of nostalgia in you that lures you in and forces you to break the window and hot-wire the ignition. For fans of '90s Japanese sport compacts, the Maibatsu Penumbra FF will be hard to resist. We see a resemblance to the second-gen Mitsubishi Eclipse and there's even a lime green paint available, which means we can recreate all our favorite moments from The Fast and the Furious.
Canis Seminole Frontier
Staying home week after week really makes you want to get outside, and for car enthusiasts that feeling usually leads to browsing Craigslist for used 4x4s. The Canis Seminole Frontier definitely scratches that itch, looking like a tastefully modded XJ-generation Jeep Cherokee. With its knobby tires and just-right suspension lift, this boxy SUV delivers the budget off-roading flavor we need right now.
Imponte Beater Dukes
If you're familiar with GTA's physics and driving controls, you know that muscle cars are hilariously fun to drive in the game. The Imponte Beater Dukes is a new option in that category, and it looks like it'll be a hoot. We see a little bit of Dodge Charger with a smidge of Pontiac GTO, but the real magic is in the details. The car comes stock with dents, ripped interior upholstery, and a zip-tied hood, living up to the "Beater" part of the name. It's up to you to restore it and mold it into the custom muscle car you've always wanted.
Invetero Coquette D10
By now it should be obvious to longtime players of the game that the Coquette is GTA's wink-wink-nudge-nudge parody of the Chevy Corvette. Now that the Vette has gone mid-engine, it's no surprise that the Coquette has followed suit with the new D10 model. The C8's proportions are all there, and the design similarities are hard to ignore. Still, GTA exists in its own universe, and as the disclaimer states at the beginning of the game, "any such similarities are purely coincidental." (Wink wink, nudge nudge.)
Benefactor BR8
GTA Online introduced open-wheel racing in the game earlier this year, launching with two cars. This update brings two more open-wheel race cars, and one of them is the Benefactor BR8. With its wild aero bits dangling low off the front wing, the BR8 has the look of a modern Formula 1 car, and apparently all the complexity, too. The in-game description pokes fun at how ridiculously complicated race cars have become, saying the race version of the BR8 "required inhuman dexterity and a PhD in astrophysics just to start the engine." Sounds about right.
Lampadoti Tigon
You can tell by the name that the Lampadoti Tigon is a parody of an ultra-high-end supercar, but exactly which one is debatable. We see familiar elements here and there—including '60s Ferrari sports prototypes and even James Glickenhaus's Enzo-based P4/5—but overall its design looks pretty original, and we're into it. The bubble canopy and stacked LED headlight arrangement ground it in the modern era while circular taillights give it a subtle vintage supercar twist. We can't wait to commandeer one on the street for a test drive.
Declasse Yosemite Rancher
The stock Declasse Yosemite has a vintage street truck vibe, and the new Rancher variant raises the bar for customization—by a few feet. With the Rancher trim, the Yosemite goes from a slammed street cruiser to a hardcore off-road rig. As far as the Declasse Yosemite's customization options go, the tube doors and full-width LED light bar are nice touches, but the available graphics packages steal the show.
BF Club
With a name that's clearly a play on the VW Golf, the BF Club has been a fan favorite since its first appearance in 2004's Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Now, the Club returns in GTA Online with a more throwback design influenced by the MkI Golf and GTI. With its boxy front end, round headlights, and classic hatchback silhouette, the Club will satisfy your vintage Vee-Dub craving, and fans of the series should get a healthy dose of nostalgia driving it again on the streets of Los Santos.
Vapid Peyote Custom
It's hard to put a finger on which real-life car the Vapid Peyote looks like, but it's got all the classic late-'50s flavor you could ask for. Fins? Check. Chrome grille? Check. Wrap-around windshield? Check. As part of the Los Santos Summer Special update, the Vapid Peyote gets a new Custom version with even more individualization options. We'll take ours with the hard top and rear-mounted spare tire, please.
Declasse DR1
With the Benefactor BR8 standing in for the modern F1 racer, the Declasse DR1 fills the role of the modern IndyCar. Now, racing fans can now settle the age-old rivalry between the two top-tier open-wheel series—just pretend the cars' aero, tire specs, and drivetrains are all accurately simulated.
Bravado Youga Classic 4x4
Like the Canis Seminole Frontier, the Bravado Youga Classic 4x4 delivers the outdoors escapism we all desperately want right now. Just look at it. It's a lifted 1970s van that you can equip with bull bars, auxiliary lights, a roof basket, and even a bumper-mounted winch. This is everything we need for a virtual overlanding experience.
Benefactor Glendale Custom
We get strong classic Mercedes vibes from the Benefactor Glendale, and because modified vintage Benzes look so damn good, we're excited to see what players do with the new Custom version. This car would look immaculate slammed on some classy wheels and painted in a matte finish.
Dundreary Landstalker XL
Having driven the Range Rover, Lincoln Navigator, and Mercedes GLS, we get the appeal of big, luxurious SUVs like the fictitious Dundreary Landstalker XL. Would it be our ride of choice in a game that has every type of vehicle under the sun? Maybe not, but we could see this as a second or third car for when we don't need to flex. Besides, we imagine a big SUV might come in handy when you need seating for other players on a heist.
Bravado Gauntlet Classic Custom ผลบอลล่าสุด
Though the stock Bravado Gauntlet channels the original Dodge Challenger, the new Classic Custom adds on the bodywork of the Mopar aero cars, the Dodge Charger Daytona and Plymouth Superbird. Despite that, the elongated nose with flip-up headlights just works with the Gauntlet's lines. Here's hoping we can add the NASCAR homologation specials' sky-high rear wing to match.
